| The History of "Mashiko-Yaki" |

 | Mashiko-Yaki started in 1852. At that time, the potteries are burned in Noborigama (like on the left picture). It tooks a long time to make a pottery, but in these days, a potter's wheel prevailed. Therefore, it is easier to make potteries, but no one is same shape and color. It is the most interesting point of Mashiko-Yaki. At first, most of Mashiko-Yaki were so heavy and dark color. Recently, more moderin design and thinner potteries are popular becauswe young potter's increasing. In every Novenber and Golden Week, a big pottery market is held, and a lot of people come to buy Mashiko-Yaki from all over the world. |
