Walking along the streets, you will encounter some interesting scenes. Orange-colored lottery booths are seen here and there. You can also see the shoeshines near the station. It costs you about 500 yen. Do you think it is cheap?

Magazine shop Many kinds of secondhand magazines are sold on the streets at 100 yen. Most of them were picked up from the trash cans at stations or the racks of the trains by middle-aged men, and then the magazine sellers buy those magazines from them at a lower price.

Even new magazines, which people buy at about 300 yen at ordinary book stores, are sold at 100 yen ! No wonder the bookstore business has been so poor lately.

This type of business was launched several years ago, and has become quite popular these days. It seems that most of the customers hesitate to buy the secondhand magazines first, wondering if they are not clean. But as a result, they seem to give in to the low price ; the salaried workers may do anything to keep their valuable allowances.
