Tumbling down the rabbit hole, hm?
Don't you think THE MATRIX is just a movie? Yes, it's true, but this movie ask us many issues...
The theme of THE MATRIX
1. The third way...
Thtough THE MATRIX series, the term "choice"
appears over and over again. Yeah, in this movie, choice is so
significant that Neo always troubles about it. So, "choice" can be said
to be one of themes of this movie. However, finally, Neo chooses the
third way, which means coexistence of human beings and machines. In history, humans first dominated machines ,and by contraries,
they are dominated by machines.
That is, it's time to coexist now!
This concept can lead to not only the movie but alco the real world.
Directors must try to make people notice the exisence of the third way.
2. Egoism of humans and the result
Until now peopl have been depeloping
technology and have their own way, not considering other livings or
environments. In this movie, as a result of their egoism, they are
dominated by machines like slaves.
That is, what directors want to say is two things; one is warning
toward high-tech society, and the other is remonstrating with human
selfishness.
3. The invisible cause and effect
In this movie, most people live in a virtual reality called The Matrix.
This implies mind control caused by the modern society. Although most
people believe they behave in the way they want to, in fact, they are
influenced by various things such as media. For the most part, they are
unconscious of them. Such invisible effects tend to make us blind ,and
we are likely to lose the truth. What this movie tries to show is
asking us "Wake up! Are you free? What is the truth?"
