* Stonehenge & Avebury *

Just 20 miles from Devizes,
Stonehenge is a World Heritage Site.

Building started over 5,000 years ago and took some 1,500 years.

The stones were pulled overland
by men for over 219 miles.

Near Stonehenge,
there is an ancient tomb
just like Japanese 'kohun.'

I remember that day was windy...

Stonehenge is more famous,
but Avebury is a much larger stone circle,
not so impressive, though.

The Neolithic stones in Avebury
are sprinkled throughout the village,
and kids can touch and climb on them.

Silbury Hill
is
the largest prehistoric
man-made mound in Europe,
lying only a mile to the South
from Avebury.

There spreads the beautiful sky
and the horizon.
