Welcome to CPS100!

This is version 4.0 of the CPS100 web site, newly created in late 2010. I am trying to update the site to include some nifty features:
  • New (Spring 2011): An on-line database
  • Better page styles
  • Menus at the top of each page
  • Pop-up tips when you mouse over bold textYes! Look at this! It's a pop-up box with more information!
  • Test exercises at the end of chapters
  • Video lectures included to help you study at home
I hope this site will prove to be a great improvement over the last one, helping you to learn the material much easier and in a much more interactive fashion.

Database Project

In order to help you become more aware of computers and how they work, there is a database where you will be expected to fill in certain data over the course of the semester. If you want, you can fill in as much as you like, as early as you like.

Access the database:

NOTE ON BROWSERS:
This page is best viewed in Safari, Chrome, or Firefox browsers--in that order. I will not guarantee anything in Internet Explorer. IE (even the more recent versions) is extremely standards-unfriendly, meaning that it does not use the styles everyone else agrees on using. As a result, I strongly suggest that you change your default browser to one of the others--in fact, it is not a bad idea to download more than one, so that if a page does not work, you can try it in a different browser.

Downloads for the browsers:

There is another browser--Opera--which I would still recommend above Internet Explorer, but I do not recommend for this site. Opera is good and fast, but it is not 100% standards-compliant, which means that it doesn't follow the rules as much as the others. While most of this site will look pretty bad in Internet Explorer, it has a few problems in Opera as well. So, for this class, I would recommend Safari, Firefox, or Chrome.
